September is self care awareness month and what better time is there to check that you are taking time to do things that serve you and your life in a positive way.
WHAT IS SELF CARE?
Self care is:
Caring for yourself - being less critical of yourself, being more forgiving when you make mistakes.
Giving yourself permission to rest when you feel tired.
Letting go of perfectionism and focus on effort instead.
Doing things for you that make you happy.
Giving yourself some love, speaking to yourself with kindness.
Taking time out from the hustle and bustle and grind of daily life
HOW IS IT IMPORTANT? WHY DO I NEED IT?
We all need it, its not selfish, it's restorative, necessary and essential for our mental health and wellbeing. It becomes much easier and more natural to us to be kind, thoughtful and care for others when our own tank is full and replenished.
I FIND IT REALLT LY DIFFICULT
Many people feel there isn't enough time in the day to do normal daily tasks let alone take time out for themselves. This is because we have all got into the habit of putting others before ourselves. It's about showing up for ourselves in the best possible way.
Saying yes to the things you want to do that serve you well and saying no to more of the things that you don't serve you well.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
improved mental well being
improved physical health
wanting and being able to give more to loved ones
feeling more content
taking time away from things that cause stress and anxiety
giving you time to reflect on your life and what your own needs are
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
It's Self care awareness September, this is a good a time as any to get started and creat a little routine for yourself.
